Rafael-Evitan Grombelka

Rafael-Evitan is one of the most promising young actors of the german deaf theatre scene. He lives in Hamburg & is known in the culture of deafs for his poetry in sign language. He is member of the german deaf theatre “Deutsches Gehörlosentheater” & won awards at the Deaf Filmfestival. Rafael is a versatile actor who is long experienced on theatre stages but also acts in front of the camera. He personifies the main male part in Silken Silence with a great authenticity because he for hisself struggles for the acceptance & love of his deafness & his standing in the culture of the deaf people & the appreciation in the world of the hearing people.

Kassandra Wedel

Kassandra is known in the community of deafs as active dancer among other things. Despite her deafness she achieved all her goals as a dancer: She competes as professionell Hip-Hop dancer on championships, she leads an dancing classes with hering & deaf people & she is member of the initiative hearing Youth “Initiative Gehörlose Jugend e.V.” She was at the munich intimate theatre “Münchener Kammerspiele” & is as well experienced in front of the camera. As being deaf & living between the two cultures for herself the main female part in Silken Silence fits her perfectly. For she is appreciated in the community of deafs & her love for the music & for the dance she already has come further than the character in the film, but this is the reason she is able to get even deeper into the character.
